Neo-Paganism
Neo-Paganism is a religious movement that emphasizes ancient pagan traditions and respect for nature. It is not an organized religion and has no official doctrines. Neo-Paganism has many different paths that one can follow; a path is somewhat like a sect. These paths have a variety of beliefs on religious issues such as the divine, human nature, and the afterlife. Although there many paths in Neo-Paganism, there are some common beliefs that are shared between the paths.
One of the most fundamental beliefs of Neo-Paganism is the acknowledgment of the divine in nature. Many Pagans consider the earth to be sacred for this reason. Pagans include gods and beliefs of ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian paganism into their own belief system.
Neo-Paganism consists of eight paths: Asatru, Druidism, Great Goddess, Hellenic Polytheism, Kemetic Reconstructionism, Male Spirit, Shamanism, and Wicca. Asatru is a modern revival of the pre-Christian Nordic religion. Hellenic Polytheism is puts emphasis on the deities and religious practices of the ancient Greeks. Kemetic Reconstructionism seeks to recreate the ancient Egyptian religion as precisely as possible. Lastly, Wicca focuses on spells and goddess worship.
